There are plenty of excellent local eateries along Thomson Road and Balestier Road, including what is regarded by many Singaporeans as the best chicken rice in Singapore!! Oh and did we mention that the hotel even has a pool! Yes, from Sin$ 69 nett you get all the above, plus a swimming pool which opens at 7am and closes at 7pm. The hotel is not for everyone, but as long as you understand what "budget hotel" means, and you do not mind small rooms etc then it is hard to go wrong for Sin$ 69. Yes, the sound insulation should be better, and it would be wonderful if the rooms had electronic safes (although there are safety deposit boxes available in the lobby) but a comfy bed, reliable hassle-free internet, good water power in the shower and even a pool to take a lap or two in and you really will be hard pressed to find a better overall deal anywhere in Singapore.
